Pediatric Genomics Laboratory

Overview of Services

The Pediatric Genomics Team consists of two computational scientists both with PhD's and two molecular biologists, both with MS degree’s and 10 years plus of experience. The team members have worked both in industrial and university settings bringing their extensive knowledge and expertise to bear on a range of experimental challenges.

The Pediatric Genomics Core Laboratory (PGL) is a full-service genomics facility supporting clinical translational research efforts at the Nemours Children’s Health System. Areas of support include project consultation/experiment design, library preparation, next generation sequencing and downstream data analysis. PGL also supports human methylation profiling on the Illumina Infinium Methylation EPIC Bead Chip.

The laboratory instrumentation comprises of state-of-the-art equipment to tackle the numerous experimental protocols required for targeted, whole exome, and whole transcriptome NGS studies. These include an Illumina NextSeq 550, an Agilent Magnis automated NGS library preparation system, PCR thermal cyclers and an Agilent TapeStation for the accurate quantification of NGS libraries. The lab has dedicated pre and post amplification space to avoid cross contamination of individual libraries and the lab bench work areas are fully operational with the equipment and disposable items necessary to generate quality NGS and Methylation data.
